Default Spoolinmazda Track Log

I have decided that since I am getting deeply addicted to tracking the 8 I would log some crutial techniques and tips that I have learned from that event. I will also be posting my track schedule in case you may want to join me.

Current 2010 Track schedule:

March Road Atlanta - NASA Southeast
June 19-20 Sebring - NASA Florida
September 4-5 PBIR - NASA Florida
October 23-24 Daytona International Raceway - PBOC (Maybe)
November Robeling Road - Darkside (Maybe)
December Road Atlanta - NASA Southeast

I know there isn't a lot of track time listed here but my finacial sitation forces me to pick and choose what events to attend. So I will be concentrating on learning as much as I can every session I am on the track. Hopefully some of the new guys that start the addiction can use some of the information I put in this thread to help them with their learning curve. Now that I have a video camera I will also be able to visually show everyone my mistakes and success.

James, it is good to keep track of this sort of thing, I keep track of this stuff too, even the Continuing Education seminar for instructors I went to...new Event organizers might ask for it, and if it is written down somewhere, it is easy to get to, and you won't leave anything out.

Event Name: Pot O Gold
Location: Road Atlanta
Date: March 27-28, 2010

Video Link: http://www.vimeo.com/10216541

Highlights:
What a fun weekend. I had a great instructor that taught me a key concept… weight transfer. To actually realize and feel the transfer of weight from one side of the car and front to back changed my outlook and approach to driving/tracking. I was now able to connect the dots and understand why it was important to bring the car to a neutral point after a turn, before braking, or before turning into the next turn.

Key Achievements:
• Began utilizing the heel/toe technique
• Experienced the feeling of weight transfer
• Compressing my braking zones
• Maintaining more speed through turns and increasing exiting speeds
• Signed off to DE2

Items to work on:
• My heal/toe technique
• Compressing my braking zones
• More speeds through the turns
• Continue working on making my lines consistent
• Traffic management
