Keyless remote doesn't work

New battery and doesn't work. Is my only option going to the mazda dealer? I just got my 04 rx8 on saturday and the dealership i got it from was a Kia and they had no clue.

Good info. Interesting that you need 2 already programmed keys.

I have had two remotes just go bad, new batteries would not help. The first was while I was under warranty, so it was replaced for free. That remote later went bad, once I was out of warranty, so I have been using the second one that came with the car since then, and that has been about 2 years....knock on wood, those things are $$$ to replace.
